Hands-On Experience: What It’s Actually Like to Use
A note from the Avika Retails testing bench.
We installed the Nextron RX 6600 8GB in a mid-range test rig (paired with an Intel Core i5-12400F and 32GB of DDR5 RAM) to see how it handles the realities of modern PC gaming. Here is our hands-on takeaway:
1. 1080p Performance is Rock Solid This card knows its target audience and absolutely nails it. In competitive titles like Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant, the card easily pushed past 200+ FPS on maximum settings, making it perfect for high-refresh-rate 144Hz or 240Hz monitors. In heavier AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2, we comfortably averaged around 60–75 FPS on High/Ultra native 1080p settings.
2. The Magic of FSR When we tested more demanding, newer titles like Black Myth: Wukong, native rendering on Ultra dipped below 60 FPS. However, turning on AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) to “Quality” mode instantly boosted us back to a buttery smooth 70+ FPS with barely any noticeable loss in visual sharpness.
3. Thermals, Noise, and Power The standout feature of the Nextron Legend Edition is how incredibly cool and efficient it is. The AMD chip draws a maximum of around 132 Watts, which is incredibly low compared to its competitors. Because the chip sips power, the Nextron dual fans barely have to work. Even after a two-hour stress test, the GPU junction temperature hovered comfortably around 68°C to 72°C, and the fans were practically inaudible over typical case fans.
The Verdict: If you are building or upgrading a PC specifically for a 1080p monitor, the Nextron RX 6600 8GB is arguably one of the most cost-effective, power-efficient, and reliable graphics cards you can slot into your motherboard today.
