MSI B760M Project Zero Micro-ATX Motherboard | LGA 1700
The End of Cable Clutter: For decades, PC builders have struggled to manage and hide thick, ugly power cables that snake across the front of their motherboards. The MSI B760M Project Zero completely solves this problem. By moving every major connector-including the 24-pin ATX power, 8-pin CPU power, SATA ports, and fan headers-to the reverse side of the board, it offers an unprecedented, pristine view of your core components.
Please note: This motherboard requires a specific PC case designed to support back-connect motherboards.
High-End Power for Intel Core Processors: The clean aesthetic does not mean a compromise in hardware capability. The Project Zero features a robust 12+1+1 Duet Rail Power System equipped with extended VRM heatsinks. This ensures that even high-core-count Intel Core processors receive stable, clean power under heavy gaming or rendering loads without thermal throttling. Additionally, the board leverages MSI’s Memory Boost technology to support ultra-fast DDR5 memory, allowing you to push frame rates and application loading times to the absolute maximum.
Next-Generation Connectivity: Built around the B760 chipset, the board offers a reinforced, steel-armored PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, ready for the massive bandwidth of next-generation graphics cards. Your high-speed NVMe storage is covered by two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, actively cooled by MSI’s Shield Frozr to prevent thermal slowdowns. Networking is equally top-tier, featuring an Intel Wi-Fi 6E module for lag-free wireless gaming and a hardwired 2.5Gbps LAN port for massive file transfers.
Key Features
- Back-Connect Design: All major cables plug into the back of the motherboard, providing a remarkably clean, 100% cable-free front view.
- LGA 1700 Socket: Fully supports Intel Core 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen Desktop Processors.
- DDR5 Memory Support: Unlocks the extreme speed and massive bandwidth of modern DDR5 RAM modules.
- PCIe 5.0 Graphics Slot: A reinforced, steel-armored PCIe x16 slot provides 128GB/s of bandwidth for future high-end GPUs.
- Wi-Fi 6E & 2.5G LAN: Next-generation networking ensures ultra-low latency and incredibly fast download speeds.
- M.2 Shield Frozr: Built-in thermal heatsinks keep your high-speed PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs cool to prevent performance throttling.

Who It’s For
- Aesthetic Enthusiasts: Builders utilizing panoramic, glass-heavy PC cases who want to completely eliminate visible cables from their final build.
- Modern Intel Upgraders: Users wanting a highly stable, DDR5-capable foundation for a new 13th or 14th Gen Intel processor without paying for extreme Z790 overclocking features.
- First-Time PC Builders: The back-connect design actually makes assembly significantly easier, as you no longer have to carefully route thick cables through tiny grommets to the front of the board.
Comparison: MSI B760M Project Zero vs. MSI MAG B760M Mortar WiFi
When deciding between the B760M Project Zero and the standard MSI MAG B760M Mortar WiFi, the fundamental difference is physical layout. Under the hood, they share nearly identical high-end B760 performance, including robust 12-phase power delivery, DDR5 support, and Wi-Fi 6E. The Mortar is a traditional motherboard where cables plug into the front. The Project Zero features the revolutionary back-connect design.
Crucial Warning: You must buy a specifically designed, compatible PC case (like the MSI MAG PANO M100R PZ or Corsair 2500X) to use the Project Zero. If you have a standard PC case, the rear cables will physically hit the motherboard tray, and it will not fit. If you have a standard case, buy the Mortar. If you are buying a compatible back-connect case for an ultra-clean look, the Project Zero is the mandatory choice.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I install this motherboard in my current PC case? Almost certainly not. Because the power and SATA connectors stick out of the back of the motherboard, your PC case must have specific, large cutouts on the motherboard tray to accommodate them. You must verify that your specific case officially supports “Back-Connect” or “Project Zero” motherboards.
- Does this board support older DDR4 RAM? No. The B760M Project Zero relies entirely on the new DDR5 memory standard. Your older DDR4 sticks will not physically fit into the slots.
- Will this support the newest Intel processors? Yes. The LGA 1700 socket fully supports Intel 12th Gen, 13th Gen, and 14th Gen processors right out of the box. (Note: It will not support the upcoming Intel Core Ultra Series 2 chips, which require a new LGA 1851 socket).
- Is the B760 chipset capable of CPU overclocking? No. The Intel B760 chipset strictly locks CPU core overclocking. If you wish to manually overclock an unlocked “K-series” Intel processor (like the i7-14700K), you must purchase a more expensive Z790 motherboard. However, B760 does fully support memory overclocking (XMP).
